The Joys of Yiddish
Yiddish Language group Offered At Chabad Jewish Center
In response to popular demand, Chabad of Oxnard will be offering a once a month course on the Yiddish language. The course will take place on the 1st Sunday of each month beginning July 3rd at the Chabad Jewish Center, 3810 Channel Islands Blvd, (corner of Victoria and Channel Islands) from 10:30 am until 12:00 noon. The cost for the monthly group is $10 per class.
Chabad of Oxnard is inviting the public to the first class free of charge on Sunday July 3rd from 10:30 am until 12:00 noon. Some of the topics that will be explored include: How and why Yiddish developed; Why Yiddish almost died; and the modern rebirth of Yiddish.
“Yiddish is a very rich and expressive language” says Rabbi Dov Muchnik, the Yiddish class instructor. “Whether it’s the desire to connect with past generations or just to acquaint yourself with this colorful language, many people are looking to expand their horizons with the ability to speak and comprehend Yiddish.”
